Plant-based food continues to experience rapid growth as the health and environmental benefits of reducing meat and dairy intake become more widely understood. With poor diet contributing to a mounting public health crisis, plant-based foods are set to become more important than ever in public sector catering.
Plant Based World Europe, Europe’s first ever dedicated plant-based trade show, is ready to help. Arriving at London’s Business Design Centre on 15-16 October 2021, it will be the place to learn more about implementing plant-based foods within the supply chain to create healthier, more sustainable meal offerings.
Brands in attendance will demonstrate how to easily incorporate plant based ingredients into public sector catering to produce meals that are healthy, tasty, and cost-effective.
Protein alternatives will be a strong theme amongst exhibitors at the show, with an extensive range of healthy meat alternatives on display for visitors to discover and sample. For example, Quorn will be showcasing how its products can create high street inspired, delicious dishes which are easily adapted by in-house catering teams. Plus, they’ll have one of their biggest ever product launches on display.
Innovative dairy and egg alternatives will also feature on the exhibition floor. In a coup for the show, US-innovator JUST will demonstrate its plant-based egg alternative made from mung bean that even scrambles like a real egg. Suitable for sweet or savoury applications, JUST Egg boasts a 93 percent smaller carbon footprint than conventional animal sources.
“Plant Based World is bringing together all aspects of the food system, from farm to fork”
Visitors will also be able to gain inspiration at the Culinary Theatre where professional chefs demonstrate how simple ingredients can be transformed into tasty and filling dishes for forward-thinking menus.
For those looking for additional advice, Plant Based World Europe will present a cutting-edge conference programme, featuring a jam-packed schedule of educational content devised for public sector catering professionals. The seminars have been designed to explore why embracing plant-based eating throughout public sector catering has the power to transform public health and satisfy palettes across the nation.
Influential speakers from across the food and beverage industry will take to the stage throughout the event to share real-life case studies and offer their advice on successfully incorporating plant-based foods onto menus, with meals that are full of flavour and a joy to eat.
The show has been working closely with the leaders of the plant-based industry from across the world to curate this content. Commenting on the event’s importance, Shireen Kassam, Founder and Director of Plant Based Health Professionals UK and part of the show’s public sector advisory committee, said: “As a healthcare professional, I feel strongly that the food we serve in public spaces, including schools and universities, should promote a healthy lifestyle and be sustainable for both people and the planet. The simplest way to achieve this is by showcasing the foods that are most consistently associated with good health – fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and beans. Plant Based World is bringing together all aspects of the food system, from farm to fork, and introducing visitors to new foods that can help us do just this.”
