Harvesting the power of the pea to create plant-based protein alternatives and free from ingredients

Plant-based ingredient manufacturer Novo Farina has launched new additions to their range of innovative, British made texturised vegetable protein.

Made with 100% yellow peas, the NovoTex range has been developed to offer a clean label, gluten-free alternative to soya and wheat-based meat replacement products.

NovoTex products provide a responsibly grown protein solution that can be used to develop and complement plant-based dishes and reduce the meat content in meals, without compromising on taste and mouthfeel.

Putting the ‘pea-zazz’ in school meals

Novo Farina have recently collaborated with local authority service provider Norse Catering to develop a reduced meat content Bolognese with their NovoTex mince.

The recipe application was praised by Norse for helping them incorporate more climate friendly and sustainable working practices to further reduce their carbon impact. Cool Food Pro calculated the results of an initial trail as having a significant reduction in Norse’s CO2e, an improvement in water quality and biodiversity saving.

Novo Farina NovoTex Range

High in protein and a good source of fibre, Novo Farina offer a high-quality variety of texturised pea proteins which have a wide range of applications in vegan, vegetarian, free-from and reduced meat content meals, and provide a cost-effective solution to fresh and frozen meat and meat substitutes.

  • NovoTex Ultra Fine: An ultra-fine texturised pea protein that has been created to complement vegetarian and vegan recipes that want veggies, pulses and plants as the hero ingredients. High in protein, a good source of fibre and gluten free, this protein rich thickener will up the nutritional content of sauces, casseroles, curries and vegetable-based recipes.
