Abstract
UK manufacturer Mechline Developments has launched HyGenikx, a ‘revolutionary’ air and surface hygiene amplification system, which eradicates harmful bacteria from foodservice environments.

HyGenikx is a plug and play option that will keep customers, staff and food protected from viruses and bacteria. HyGenikx is useful for public sector caterers in schools, hospitals and care homes.

The surface hygiene amplification system combats airborne viruses and bacteria by minimising the risk of cross contamination. HyGenikx has been proven to kill salmonella, e.coli and norovirus.

The HyGenikx range has been proven to extend the shelf life of stored perishable food by an average of 58% (approximately 7.5 days). For example when using HyGenikx it extended the shelf life of strawberries from one day to six.

Nick Faldo, product & technical director at Mechline, said: “Food safety and infection control is a priority for all foodservice operators who are under pressure to ensure the highest hygiene standards.

“Microorganisms spread infections, compromise hygiene standards, cause food to spoil, create offensive odours and can multiply very quickly.

“Coronavirus can be spread through the air (viral particles from cough or sneeze) and on surfaces with viral particles infecting hands which then touch the mouth, nose or eyes.”
