Abstract
The parent company behind biscuit brands McVitie’s and Jacob’s wants to encourage the foodservice industry to help combat loneliness and bring some happiness to care homes on National Biscuit Day (May 29th) by delivering lockdown love letters - and biscuits - to residents.

And it says it will be taking a lead to ‘spread as much kindness as possible to care homes’.

Lisa Warner, out of home foodservice controller with Pladis, said: “We know that loneliness has spiked during lockdown, and residents are missing visits from friends and relatives.

“So, we want to share some kindness and let residents know we as an industry care.

“As a team, we’ll be writing to our local care homes and are calling for the industry to do the same – either writing to a care home customer or picking a local home and sharing some words of kindness.”

The company plans to send a number of celebratory National Biscuit Day packs full of biscuits and goodies for residents to enjoy with their morning tea on May 29th.

Care home caterers are encouraged to get in touch on Twitter to request a pack and download a letter template using the handle @pladis_f
