Former HCA chair Andy Jones nominated for nutrition accolade
Abstract
Andy Jones, a former chair of the Hospital Caterers Association (HCA) and a previous chair of the PSC 100 Group (now Public Sector Catering Alliance) has been nominated for an Outstanding Achievement accolade at the CN Awards.

The CN Awards provide the chance for all readers, advertisers and contributors of CN Magazine to come together to recognise the achievements of those whose great work has made a ‘significant difference’ within the nutrition industry – whether an individual, group or organisation.

Jones has been nominated alongside two others including Dr Alex Pinto and Pete Turner. Readers of CN Magazine are now being asked to vote across the 11 award categories. The voting process for the 2026 CN Awards closes on 21st July 2026.

Jones has spent 45 years in the NHS and is dedicated to patients’ wellbeing with good food and drink. He has innovated from the NHS water jug, which is now used in all NHS hospitals, after talking to patients and clinical teams about what they wanted to see in a jug for water, finger food menus, and dysphagia meals.

The current focus is on hydration from IDDSI drinks machines to chilled water on a beverage trolley, serving hot drinks as well. He set up Nutrition and Hydration week 14 years ago, which is now celebrated in healthcare, social care, and retail.

Nutrition and Hydration Week is an annual, international campaign focused on promoting the importance of good nutrition and hydration in health and social care settings. It’s widely marked in hospitals, care homes, community services, and catering departments across the NHS.

Jones has over 40 years of experience in public sector catering, including senior roles in the NHS and private sector providers like ISS. In 2022 Jones was named as the Public Sector Catering Lifetime Achievement Award winner for his service to the public sector catering industry.
