Abstract
As egg-citement grows for the start of the glorious four-day weekend, we're making your day egg-xtra special by posting your Friday Food Fact fix one day early!

Did you know that every child in the UK receives an average of 8.8 Easter Eggs every year – this is double the recommended calorie intake for a whole week!

How you eat a chocolate bunny can reveal your personality! Ears first shows your practical and extremely loyal, tail first means your cautious and a little bit sneaky, biting off its head shows your restless, independent and like to get the job done, breaking it in half suggests your a pessimist and if you smell it first you’re polite and well mannered and a very detail-oriented person. Nine out of ten eat the ears first!

If all the Cadbury Crème Eggs made in a year were stacked on top of each other, the pile would be ten times higher than Mount Everest!

In 1592, Queen Elizabeth I decreed hot cross buns could only be sold on Good Friday, Christmas or for burials because they were too special to be eaten on any other day. To get around this, people baked the buns in their own kitchens — although if they were caught the illegal buns were given to the poor.

There used to be a tradition that churches observed at Easter which resembled the game of hot potato. The priest would toss a hard boiled egg to one of the choir boys. They would then pass it among themselves and when the clock struck 12, whomever had the egg was the winner and got to keep it. No wonder it died out, perhaps they should’ve used a crème egg.
