In the week where the Queen turned 90 and the future king of England said 'bo***cking' on morning TV, we found lots of great food facts.

We know that beetroot is good for us but did you know it contains betaine, which in other forms is used to help treat depression. It’s also an amino acid, trytophan, that helps improve mood, memory and reduces stress. And finally it’s the feel good chemical in chocolate.

California has a law that says it is illegal to eat oranges in the bath! The law was created as it was believed that the citric acid would react with natural bath oils and create a highly explosive mixture. Thankfully, the law is not enforced and Californians can eat oranges in the bath – at their own risk!

Momofuku Ando, the Japanese man who invented instant noodles in 1958, deliberately picked chicken as the staple of his noodle empire because there is not a single culture, religion or country that forbids the eating of chicken. Today there are 95 billion servings of instant noodles eaten every year.

A recent survey showed that 29% of adults say they have been splashed or scalded by hot drinks while dunking biscuits.
