As the bank holiday weekend fast approaches, why not take five and enjoy a generous helping of some Friday Food Facts.

The pineapple has a long association with pregnancy and childbirth. This unassuming tropical fruit was once believed to cause pregnant women to miscarry, although they would need to consume at least 10 in one go. More cheerfully, however, the juice has been used as diuretic and even to induce labour.
