Abstract
We decided to mix things up this week and go with a rather random theme for our Fun Friday Food Facts - dairy foods. Let us know what you think on Twitter > @CSCMag
  • The way actor Peter Sallis had Wallace say the word ‘cheese’ in the Wallace & Gromit films prompted creator Nick Park to radically change his initial design for the character’s head so his mouth became wider than his face
  • Due to the recent heat wave Milk production across the UK is down by 15% and the average cow is drinking over 100 litres of water per day
  • It takes more than 21 pounds of whole milk to make one pound of butter
  • To get the amount of calcium in an 8-ounce glass of milk, you’d have to eat one-fourth cup of broccoli, seven oranges or six slices of wheat bread
  • Goat milk is non-allergenic as it does not contain B-Lactoglobulin - the protein that is the main stimulant of allergenic reactions. It’s also much easier to digest than cow’s milk – breaking down in just 20 minutes compared to an hour!
  • One cow can produce up to 144 glasses of milk each day
