Abstract
Business events, conferences, exhibitions and events centres will be given the go ahead to reopen on 1 October, prime minister Boris Johnson has confirmed. The decision is a boost for Public Sector Catering magazine’s PSC Expo at the NEC in Birmingham from November 17-18.

Following the success of last year’s Expo in Telford, the event has moved to the bigger NEC venue for 2020, with a two-day programme of speakers, cooking demonstrations, networking and an exhibition of more than 100 foodservice suppliers.

Themes this year among the speaker programme will be the national food strategy, the rise of flexitarianism, local sourcing and food provenance, procurement collaboration, obesity and healthy eating – all with special reference to the long-term impact on the industry of Covid-19 and the changes that will bring.

The debates, cooking demonstrations and suppliers have been especially lined up for their relevance to the challenges facing those providing catering services within schools, colleges, universities, hospitals, social care settings, prisons and the armed forces.

The Expo is run with the support of a number of national catering organisations, including ASSIST FM, the Hospital Caterers Association, LACA, the school food people, the National Association of Catering, the Professional Association of Catering in Education, The University Caterers Organisation and the PSC100 group.
