Abstract
Examples of the way the catering industry – both operators and suppliers – are finding ways to support the continuing efforts of the UK to cope with the impact of coronavirus and the Covid-19 disease it can cause. Here are just a few:

* At Musgrove Park Hospital, part of Taunton & Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, lunchboxes for staff were augmented with homemade vanilla cupcakes decorated with the NHS logo.

The cakes were made by the catering team at nearby Taunton School, an independent school that educates 1,000 boys and girls aged up to 18 years old.

* Meanwhile, the ISS Education team at Wakefield, where it delivers the contract to supply meals for the local council, have been busy preparing and delivering more than 100 food hampers for children entitled to free school meals

* Bristol firm Stix Drinks is donating 16,000 vitamin drinks to NHS staff across the UK to keep them hydrated, with help from food distributor Bidfood. The 10ml liquid vitamin portions are mixed with water to make a vitamin drink and are being given to hospitals across the UK including Southmead Bristol, Birmingham Women & Childrens and Frimley in Surrey.

* Crussh Fit Food & Juice Bars has announced it is donating cold press Juice to NHS workers and also launching London home deliveries.

The first 500 bottles arrived at Kings College Hospital in London last weekend, and the company has promised more deliveries to London hospitals over the coming weeks to help keep NHS staff hydrated and healthy.

The home deliveries service offers people self-isolating or unable to get to shops the chance to have juices, snacks and soups delivered anywhere within the M25.
