Abstract
In an expansion of its ‘world-leading’ specialist nutrition range healthcare meals provider Apetito has introduced a selection of brand-new IDDSI Level 6 texture-modified dishes to enhance patient catering for those living with dysphagia.

This launch brings four additional soft and bite-sized meals for hospital menus, including a lightly spiced and creamy chicken tikka masala with turmeric seasoned rice and a rich beef chilli served with coriander rice. Both dishes provide a gluten free option, as well as achieving energy dense and high protein coding.

Alongside these is the new chicken pasta bake that includes a velvety Wyke Farms’ cheddar cheese sauce to stir through before serving, and a warming Irish stew packed with mutton, pearl barley, carrots and onions and served with cheddar mash and herby root vegetables.

Neil Hargreaves, general manager of healthcare at Apetito, said: “We understand how important choice at mealtimes is for those requiring a texture modified diet and we’ve listened closely to customer feedback to further improve our available offering of Level 6 soft and bite-sized meals.

“Launching these four additional options takes our Level 6 range from 16 to 20 meals, helping to give more flexibility and variety to hospitals when creating menus for patients. We’re extremely proud of our texture-modified meals that help to bring dignity back to dining for those living with dysphagia. All the meals in the range are made with close input from our in-house expert dietetic team to ensure they meet IDDSI guidelines and guarantee safety for patients.”
