Is banning packed lunches in schools the answer?

Amy Teichman, quality and nutrition manager at Alliance in Partnership, award-winning education caterers, commented on the report. Whilst the report appears somewhat harsh, it is fair to say that some packed lunches brought into school by pupils leave much to be desired in terms of nutritional goodness – with lunch-box contents being high in processed foods with a high fat and sugar content.

The changes will see ISO 7010, which promotes the use of internationally recognised symbols on safety signs, become EN 7010 and the change means the standard could become written into both UK and EU law as opposed to simply being a recommendation.

NACC responds to new chief inspector of Social Care being appointed

The NACC (National Association of Care Catering) welcomes the news that a new, strong, independent Chief Inspector of Social Care will be appointed to protect the elderly and other vulnerable people in care homes. The Government confirmed the move as part of its official response to the Francis report, which looked into the failings at Mid Staffordshire Hospital.
